Amanda Baker
Amanda is the founder and lead yoga and meditation guide at The Soulful Place. A Virginia Beach native, she found yoga over 15 years ago. Listening to her body, going inward, and connecting to her breath was life-changing.
The power of collective energy and the ability to connect with her true self led Amanda to complete her 200-hour teacher training with the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health. She has also received her Reiki II Attunement.
Amanda loves combining her passion for travel and yoga, taking her mat out into the world. After almost two decades in the healthcare and consulting world, she felt called to open her own studio.

What better way than on the yoga mat. Jennifer has been practicing yoga for 10+ years - completed two YTT’s 2019.

Jennifer brings a unique experience to her classes that allow you to breathe deeper, move from your center and leave you feeling blissed out.

Kat Estep
Kat has a passion for the spiritual aspect and body connection of yoga. Kat fell in love with yoga after her experience through motherhood led her to learning so many new things about the human body and Mother Nature every day. Katie McGrath Landis
Katie moved here from Athens, Ohio with her husband, Devin, in late 2020 after the loss of her Mamaw, Judy - a woman who inspired Katie with her open mind, giving heart, and love for all people. During that time of loss, Katie’s purpose and direction became unclear and stagnant, which is where the joys of yoga and counseling came into her life. Yoga provided clarity, exploration, self-compassion, and community to Katie’s life, and she’s so excited to share this journey with us at The Soulful Place.
Katie received her 200 hour certification from Sky’s The Limit Yoga Co and loves yoga because it improved her confidence, self-love, and growth.

Vanessa Abbott
Vanessa landed on our shores with her husband, Bryson and her daughter Nyah Skye in 2015. Her son, Noah Erthe was born here, in Virginia Beach, in 2017.
Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, she is the pure embodiment of juxtaposition in human form. Who would have imagined the largest, loudest, busiest city, would have produced this soft voiced human with the most calming soul?
Vanessa has spent over 20 years working in hospitals in both New York and Norfolk. Her healthcare background has served her well in the yoga world. ‘Having a solid understanding of our bodies and the mechanics behind our movements, will serve us so well both on and off the mat.’
If you ask her what drives her every day, she will tell you, ‘to be of service to others’. Vanessa’s students ages range from 3 to 90. The most dominating feature in her teaching style, according to these students…is her heart.
“Took a yoga class for the first time today. I had so much anxiety about looking stupid but it went away once the class began, just like magic! If you are looking for a space to do yoga, I highly recommend The Soulful Place. A beautiful space, comfortable environment, and a pink disco ball!”
